The Sewn Bind Off can be used anywhere you want a firm, yet stretchy edge.
Set-Up / Cut your working yarn, leaving a tail about three times as long as the width of your piece. Thread the end with a darning needle. You will be working from left to right across the work.
Step 1 / Insert your needle into the first two stitches on the right hand needle purlwise.
STEP 2/ Pull the yarn through. Drop first stitch off needle.
STEP 3/ Repeat Steps 1-2 across your stitches, keeping yarn behind and above work.
You may find it helpful to adjust the tension of the sewn stitches as you work, rather than wait until the end. This will especially hold true if you are binding off a large number of stitches.
